The King’s Mass

SATB with optional organ

Advanced

About the piece:

“The King’s Mass” combines the use of traditional and non-traditional elements; older styles and modes combine with modern harmonies and interpretations, reflecting the view that religion can be a beautiful blend of traditional values and beliefs with a fresh outlook and interpretation of how they interact with modern society.

The text is traditional, except for the “Credo” which, normally long-winded in declaring beliefs, I decided to replace with a simple Latin maxim similar to the American adage “actions speak louder than words.” (The Latin is literally “I believe it is more effective to act than to speak of action.”)
